The U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote this week on a new G.I. Bill designed to further educational benefits for post-9/11 veterans.

S.22, also called the "Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act," would provide 36 months of benefits up to the cost of the most expensive in-state public school, as well as money for books and housing costs to those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a news release by Sen.

One of the year's most controversial resolutions was voted on in the final Associated Students council meeting of the year.

The Resolution Condemning the Discrimination of Homosexuals, Bisexuals and Heterosexuals by Blood Banks and the Federal Food and Drug Administration at San Diego State would have banned mobile blood donation units from coming onto campus, but failed as an action item last Wednesday.

Before the end of every spring semester, the Greek community comes together to honor specific individuals and chapters that stand out from the rest and make a difference at San Diego State.

This spring, Unity Night, also known as the Greek Awards, took place last Monday night in Montezuma Hall. Assistant Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life Kim Stokely said approximately 800 Greeks gathered to celebrate a successful school year.

More arrests made in ongoing drug investigation

According to a document released Sunday by the District Attorney's office, the total number of students arrested by "Operation Sudden Fall" has increased to 95 students including an additional 20 students arrested since Tuesday, said Steve Walker, a public affairs officer for the district attorney's office.

New CCC chancellor chosen

Jack Scott, former Pasadena City College president, was named chancellor of the California Community Colleges Thursday.

Scott will replace Diane Woodruff Jan. 1, when his term as state senator ends. Woodruff has been interim chancellor since July 2007.

Scott will take over the 109-campus CCC in a critical time of the state budget crisis.
