There's a reason professors don't want students texting in class.
We just didn't know it was to prevent drug sales.

Last fall, an atrocity occurred on our campus.
No, we haven't had any shootings or bomb threats in the past academic year. Rather, it was the premature and outrageous murder of a promising young professor's career here at Cal State Fullerton.
Wendy Gonaver, an aspiring American Studies professor, was fired before she ever set foot in a classroom for refusing to sign a decades-old agreement to defend the U.

Only once in a four-year span. That is the number of times Cal State Fullerton softball Head Coach Michelle Gromacki said she has seen Titans' senior designated player/catcher Kiki Munoz without a smile.
It is hard to imagine Munoz without a smile. She is always willing to talk after a Titans' loss, and when she does, she always stresses the positives.

Jack grew up in the Valley.
He celebrated birthdays with his large extended family and friends in backyard events. He sang in the choir at his high school. He graduated with honors.
When he was 18, he asked if he could get his driver's license, the last rite to becoming an adult, as his parents had promised him he could when they had denied the request two years prior.

From far above the football field, you can see runners huffing and puffing along the Pierce College cross country trail. However, they are not Pierce students; they are from nearby high schools.
Pierce has great cross country courses on which runners have set impressive records even though Pierce's cross country team no longer exists.

"Iron Man" hits harder than most superhero movies.
This isn't due to the iron, but the man. Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark delivers the power and the charisma that this movie needed to make it good.
While the story revolving around Stark is lackluster, the brash, arrogant weapons mogul is someone viewers can't help but like.

Brightly painted and lovingly polished motorcycles. Orange and avocado trees in redwood planter boxes. "Smoke atmospheres" at the Quad, athletic fields and the then-standing bridge over Nutwood Avenue.
This is some of the widely- and wildly-varied art that Dextra Frankel, art professor and Cal State Fullerton gallery director from 1970 to 1991, brought to the campus.

Hollywood is mad with superhero fever.
Last year, audiences saw the final installment of the "Spiderman" trilogy, possibly the most successful comic book adaptation yet. Hoping to ride off the success of their web-slinger, Marvel has opened the summer movie season with their Swiss Army knife of a superhero: "Iron Man.

Nearly 130 million American taxpayers are receiving tax rebates from the Internal Revenue Service as part of an economic stimulus rebate program to help boost consumer spending, and eventually the nation's economy.
Those who filed 2007 tax returns and qualified for the rebate using direct deposit have already begun to find checks in their bank accounts, four days before the scheduled drop date, and the first group of mailed checks is expected to come to taxpayers this week.

Batman in full costume zig zagged in front of him in New York City.
In San Francisco, he raced across the Golden Gate Bridge. In Tiberias, Israel, he ran in the footsteps of Jesus himself.
This is a sampling of the experiences Citrus College student Eddie Hahn has been through since he started running marathons.

MAY 5, 2008-Contrary to popular belief, Cinco De Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day; It's not even a national holiday. It's the anniversary of a battle Mexico won against the French army in 1862. Yet, the "holiday" is overblown here in the United States, with Cinco De Mayo.
